Suddenly a widow and single mom

Suddenly a widow and single mom

Two months ago I had the pleasure of meeting Kym. She was given our name anonymously. There was a envelope in her mailbox with HoTC’s name, address and someone’s summary of what we did....nothing else.

Kym called and scheduled a time to come in and meet with us. As she explained her situation I began to understand why someone had shared our information with her. She is a single mom. Her husband (38 years old) died suddenly last October while she was pregnant with their 7th child. She was a stay at home mom up until that point. Only six months earlier, her husband had become an independent contractor which left the family with no life insurance and $800 in the bank. Kym’s home is now in foreclosure and at the time their only mode of transportation had many safety problems.

Her minivan’s front and rear brakes were failing, her axles and struts needed to be replaced and it leaked fluid badly. We quickly called one of our car repair partners to ask for help in this critical situation. We estimated the repairs would have cost between $1,500 and $2,000. All repairs were quickly made and provided by that partner (who wishes to remain anonymous) without charging anything!

Although some might consider the anonymous note and incredible provision just a coincidence, we don’t!
