I hope you are up for a change of “scenery”! This month we have a different kind of story for
you. The story is about a a single mother that HoTC could not initially help. Jennifer is a single
mom of two teenaged boys — 14 & 16. She has been raising them on her own for their entire
lives with no support from their father (even when they were married).

As you may know, the third quarter of 2007 was challenging for HoTC financially. Jennifer contacted
us during that time needing our help with brake repairs on her car. We simply couldn’t
help her immediately. That is a very hard call for us to make! When Jennifer heard the news,
she wasn’t upset, shaken or even sad. As I held my breath waiting to hear disappointment, I
heard something that caught me way off guard—in a fantastic sort of way.

She (seemingly) smiled and assured me that she understood. Jennifer went on to say she
would be praying for us and will plan to send us an offering to help with our situation. About a
week later, a wonderful letter arrived with a check from Jennifer. “...It’s not much, but I hope
and pray that God will multiply it and God will bless you…”

I am happy to say that we have been blessed AND her gift has indeed been multiplied! At a
time when we were in need, someone we wanted to serve, served us instead. That is powerful
to us here in the office! We hope it is encouraging to you as well.
