A couple of months ago we got a call from a friend of HoTC who had just visited a co-worker. Her friend was a single mom of 2 children who just had surgery and would be home bound for several weeks. While bringing a meal to her friend, she realized a real need.
Several months prior, her furnace had stopped working completely. Not having anyone around to help or the resources to get the furnace fixed, she plugged in several space heaters in an effort to keep many of the rooms heated during the winter. When HoTC was called regarding the need, we contacted one of our HVAC contractors who made the arrangements and soon repaired the faulty furnace.
After having read that story, you may be wondering what’s so special about it. First of all, it’s a picture of the exact reason God has us here and how we are called to serve. Second, it may have saved their lives. Only two days after the repair was made, several Denver news stations reported that the daughter of a single mom elsewhere in Denver was found dead after a fire which was started by space heaters being used to heat that home.
